My photography career started with a degree in something totally different (but not totally unrelated)
What makes people tick has always been fascinating to me. I love the topic so much, it’s the reason I decided to get a degree in sociology. In college, I loved filling my bookshelf with titles that unpack the nuances of human behavior, but my lack of creative outlet left me feeling empty after graduation.
I wanted to go back to my first love: taking photographs. I enrolled in a program and soon earned another degree, this time in photography. With my camera in hand, I spent the next nine months whizzing around New York building experience in different photography styles including fashion, wedding, and family portraiture.
Life took another exciting turn when I met a handsome military man. Soon I got two new credentials: military spouse and mom. Shortly thereafter, I encountered a new challenge of solo parenting for long stretches while my husband was deployed. During these moments, I found that simple things like a favorite candle, hand lotion, or a healthy snack could give me the lift I needed to get through the day.
Today, I combine my passion for wellness products, photography, and understanding of human behavior in my business: Kim Kimber Photography. As a photographer, my work enables health and wellness CPG brands to reach more people who need their products most, which is basically the coolest career I could have ever imagined.
